For the second year in a row, the Golden Balance award for top watches of more than 25,000 Euros (Class E) was presented by Saxon watchmaker Glashütte Original. On February 21, 2017, the 20th Golden Wheel Awards ceremony was held at the Ketterer auction house ‘House of Art’ in Munich, Germany. Thomas Meier, the original CEO of Glashütte, appeared to receive the award.
The Golden Wheel Awards are hosted by the famous German magazines Uhren-Magazin and Focus, and readers of Uhren-Magazin, Focus and Focus Online select the most appreciated works in the five categories by voting. 281 watches from major watchmakers participated in this year’s Golden Balance Awards, and a total of 25,544 enthusiastic readers cast their votes.
Category E (over 25,000 Euros): Senator Observatory (white gold case, blue dial)
Category C (under € 10,000): Senator Excellence Watch (stainless steel case, black dial)
In the end, the Glashütte Original MP Observatory platinum watch won the crown in the category E (more than 25,000 euros). In addition, the Glashütte Original Senator Observatory stainless steel black dial watch also won second place in the category C (under 10,000 euros) vote.
